Combining the Power of Borehole and Surface Geophysics
The VScape product suite supports the application of
borehole and surface seismic in a truly integrated fashion,
using the measured, calibrated near-reservoir data from
borehole seismic to enhance surface-seismic data.
Surface-seismic data, despite the recent advances in
processing techniques, requires subjective decisions to be
made during the processing flow. Often, a
compromise is necessary between economics, desired
information products, and
the ability to target adequately the information required.
All of these requirements
increase the uncertainty in surface-seismic information.
Surface-seismic information can be enhanced by the
objective measurements
derived from borehole seismic data. Key acquisition and
processing parameters
can be ascertained with greater accuracy from simultaneously
acquired, or
pre-existing, Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP) surveys in the
area of interest.
VSFusion and CGGVeritas aim to use the VScape product suite to
improve the linkage
between borehole and surface seismic to aid the selection of
parameters for
surface-seismic data acquisition and processing, and to
provide superior interpretation products to reduce
uncertainty and risk in reservoir interpretation.
