DSS' special suite of tools, which includes the 42-level Geochain, 32-level GeoWaves, innovative SST-500, MLR, and MSR monocable, are all suitable for complex or challenging surveys such as 3D VSP and microseismic monitoring. All are adaptable for use with any survey type.

Multi-Level Receivers (MLR)

The Baker Atlas DSS standard Single-Level Receiver (SLR) can be configured from 1-to-13 levels (Multi-Level Receiver – MLR). The downhole receivers can be run in combination with other logging services, either wireline or pipe-conveyed, reducing the number of trips into the well – and saving rig time. The high-angle geophone package replaces the standard geophone package in highly deviated and horizontal wells.

SST-500

The unique SST-500 hydraulic clamping system facilitates easy retrieval in open- or cased hole, and provides a high-locking force ratio of 10:1. The highlocking force and innovative tool design result in a high-frequency response of up to 500 Hz. The tool consists of 12 isolated 3D geophone shuttles, telemetry unit and hydraulic pump. Safe deployment and retrieval, high-frequency response and adaptability make it the ideal system for complex surveys, such as walkaway and 3D VSPs and microseismic projects.

MSR

Baker Atlas DSS can deploy up to 8 MSR multi-level receivers in slim production holes. An innovative design, which decouples the receiver from the satellite body, means that the MSR tool has a very high-frequency response of over 600 Hz. This makes it ideal for microseismic or hydrofrac studies and for those occasions when a VSP needs to be run on monocable wireline or in slim hole (<2 in.) conditions.

Geochain Array Tool

The 3-C Geochain™ system allows up to 42 satellites to be deployed in a single well. The variable inter-tool spacing allows for innovative and optimized survey design. The array is capable of operating for long periods in high-temperature (180°C/356°F) wells – and being a modular system, is easily expandable. The system is made up of standard tools that are adapted to run in a multilevel configuration, making the system highly adaptable for different survey objectives. Whether for rig-time saving or for extra coverage and ease of operations in complex VSPs, the Geochain system is ideal when those extra levels are crucial to the objective.

Baker Atlas Downhole Seismic Services also has the very latest 25,000 psi (1750 bar) high-pressure Geochain system, the Geochain HP25™, which gives Baker Atlas a unique capability to conduct operations in the deepest and most challenging deepwater wells.

The Geochain system is a trademark of Avalon Sciences Ltd.

GeoWaves Array Tool

The Baker Atlas GeoWaves tool is a digital multi-level (up to 32) downhole seismic array to record VSPs. It can be used for semi-permanent installation in a fixed position in the well for passive monitoring (hydraulic fracturing mapping or reservoir monitoring). It can be also used to record large surveys such as 3D VSPs and 4D VSPs around the well for detailed and time-lapse reservoir imaging.

The GeoWaves tool has superior telemetry rates and is resistant to extreme well environments. It is lightweight, has simple connections for easy deployment and is easily maintained

The GeoWaves system is a product of Sercel.
